The Image from DC
By Jesse "The Walking Man" Turner

The image from DC that reminds why I march.
How do we tell her that 49 states spend more money on their wealthy schools than their poor schools?
How do we tell her spending on prisons grew three times faster than spending on our public schools?
How do we tell the data from the past 15 years proves that every Market-based education reform policy has failed our children?
How do we tell her that 15 years of more testing has resulted in lower test scores, but our nation's leaders can't let testing go?
How do tell her legislators are slashing school budgets again? everywhere?
How do we tell her that her that her legislators are cutting Librarians in our public schools?
How do we tell her that her that her legislators are cutting school nurses in our public schools?
How do we tell her that her that her legislators are cutting music teachers in our public schools?
How do we tell her that her that her legislators are cutting art teachers in our public schools?
How do we say to her your future doesn't matter enough to:
America's wealthy,
America's powerful, and
America's connected to give her the public education she deserves?
How do we live with ourselves, if we don't fight for her future?
Still marching,
Jesse The Walking Man Turner
